Our last trip to the Catskills Part 1: Family Fun

Andy was invited to go to Annecy, France for a surgical conference and he was looking forward to going because he was only able to leave NYC two other times  (once for about 48 hours when we bought our house in Maryland and once for a work conference) since his fellowship started last summer.  Being on call every day for a year straight is not fun!  We decided it was not a good idea for me to go since I was big and pregnant and he was going to be in the conference from 7am to 7pm everyday.

Since Andy was going to be away, the kids and I thought it would be fun to take a little trip ourselves and planned a long weekend trip to the Catskill Mountains in NY and invited the entire Corso family to join us.  The hospital where Andy did his residency gives all residents access to this incredible mountain estate  (three houses, with a swimming pool, tennis court, basketball court, stream, and tons of land to run around) for a really inexpensive price. The property was left to the hospital by a nice older couple who specifically wanted residents to be able to leave the city and enjoy the countryside.  Andy and I went many times every year of his residency and my family had a big Corso party there two times a year in the fall and the summer.  It is so much fun and a beautiful place to enjoy the outdoors and has become one of my favorite places to visit.  The kids call it "our mountain house" and they absolutely love it!  I was able to reserve it from Wednesday-Sunday (which was the same time that Andy was in France) for the first week in June.  I am so sad that this was our last visit to the Catskills at our special mountain house, but we will always have wonderful memories.

PopPop and Gram were the first to arrive and we had a fun half a day with just them.
Drew and Katie sharing a laugh on the couch.

Poppy and Grandmom were next to arrive!

Notice that she is holding a chip in each hand while Gram puts on her shoes.

Poppy and Drew playing some tee-ball.

The next day, everyone else in the family arrived, including Cousin Jes, who quickly became a favorite of Katie's.

Cousin Ken started a band.

Uncle Steve and Drew had fun playing with the giant frisbee.

Drew loved all of the yummy food!

Even though it was a little cold, Poppy took the kids swimming.
